The flight U22252 departed Hurghada, Egypt Saturday, February 8 2025 and climbed to 36,000 ft but one hour into the flight, the crew contacted ATC about a medical emergency on board.

According to passenger reports, cabin crew suddenly rushed to the front and requested urgent medical assistance on board.

The captain ‘collapsed’ while the first officer was piloting the Airbus A320neo G-UZEE and decided to divert to Athens.

The aircraft was met by paramedics and police right after landing on runway 03L, 2 hours and 39 minutes after departure from the Egyptian resort.

An EasyJet spokesperson confirmed the incident and stressed that all necessary measures were taken to minimise the impact on passengers: “The flight was diverted to Athens as the captain required medical attention. The first officer took over the landing.”

The easyJet flight from Antalya to Gatwick was forced to divert to Bari in Italy after a young teenage passenger allegedly assaulted staff and threatened to stab them.

Passengers claimed the girl became furious after a 10-year-old girl started coughing loudly.

A 16-year-old girl was sitting next to a little girl (about 10 yo) who started coughing. The teenager she told her to stop.

The little girl went to the toilet but the older girl followed her to the toilet. The girl kept having outbursts saying ‘get out of my face’, and she wouldn’t let her out. Then the mum went down and the teenage girl was shouting in her face.

The mum and the little girl were crying so the crew walked them down to the to the front of the plane to get away from the teenager.

The girl then reportedly threatened crew members who attempted to calm her down, and went on to throw shoes at other passengers.

The cabin crew informed the Captain who decided to divert to Bari, Italy. The A320 (registration G-EZOM) landed 2 hours after departure from Turkey.

A spokesperson for easyJet confirmed the flight was met by police upon arrival in Bari due to a “disruptive” passenger on board,

They said: “Flight U28556 from Antalya to London Gatwick on 27th December diverted to Bari. It was met by police due to a passenger behaving disruptively onboard.
