Delta flight DL14 departed Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport Friday, February 28 2025 for a 9-hour flight to Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

The flight was operated by a 19-year-old Airbus A330-300 with registration N811NW.

The aircraft took off from runway 27R and climbed to 16,000ft when the crew contacted ATC about an issue on the right hand engine.

According to The Aviation Herald, the engine was shut down. Pilots reported they have lost the engine number 2.

The plane returned to Atlanta for a safe landing on the same runway after 27 minutes of flight.

A replacement aircraft (registration N859NW) was assigned to resume the flight few hours later.

The A330-300 involved in the incident was taken out of service. It is scheduled to perform flight DL72 to Amsterdam on Match, 4th.
