Delta passengers were forced to evacuated via slides at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on Monday after smoke was observed in the plane.

On February 24, 2025, a Delta Airlines Boeing 717, which departed Atlanta for Columbia, South Carolina, at around 8:30 a.m., returned back after smoke filled the cabin mid-flight.

Delta Flight 876 was en route from Atlanta to Columbia, South Carolina, on Monday morning when “haze inside the aircraft was observed,” a Delta spokesperson said. The FAA said “the crew reported possible smoke in the flightdeck.”

The plane safely made an emergency landing at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, and all 94 passengers, two pilots, and three flight attendants were swiftly evacuated using emergency slides.

The Boeing 717 twin-engine airliner produced by Boeing Commercial Airplanes was developed for the 100-seat market and originally marketed by McDonnell Douglas in the early 1990s as the MD-95 until the company merged with Boeing in August 1997.

Following misinformation and speculation, Delta publishes details about pilots who was in the cockpit of CRJ-900.

Following a Delta Connection CRJ-900 accident in Toronto, the airline is offering $30,000 to each passenger that was on the flight that crashed in Toronto, Canada, according to The Minnesota Star Tribune.

If the passengers accept, the company would dish out about $2.3 million.

Spokesperson Morgan Durrant said the money is simply just a gesture with “no strings attached and does not impact rights.” Delta CEO Ed Bastian says the pilots on the plane were “experienced.”

Following speculation on social media and misinformation, Delta has issued the following statement regarding the pilots involved in Monday’s crash:

Endeavor Air and Delta are correcting disinformation in social media containing false and misleading assertions about the flight crew of Endeavor Air 4819.

  • Captain: Mesaba Airlines, a progenitor company of Endeavor Air, hired the captain in October 2007. He has served both as an active duty Captain and in pilot training and flight safety capacities. Assertions that he failed training events are false. Assertions that he failed to flow into a pilot position at Delta Air Lines due to training failures are also false.
  • First Officer: Hired in January 2024 by Endeavor Air and completed training in April. She has been flying for Endeavor Air since that time. As with any airline pilot, her flight experience mandated minimum requirements set by U.S. Federal regulations.

Both crew members are qualified and FAA certified for their positions.

The airline suggests that assertions that the co-pilot Kendal Michelle Swanson failed training events are false.

Unverified claims surfaced that a female 26-year-old pilot was at the controls of Delta Flight which crashed in Toronto.

Claims surfaced that the flight was being piloted by a 26-year-old pilot who recently received her flying license on January 9, 2025 and was experiencing her first commercial flights.

The Delta/Endeavor plane that crashed in Canada was piloted Kendal Michelle Swanson who was an instructor pilot for a small propellor aircraft a year ago the source says.

Another source said she was still in training as of January 2025 and struggled all the way through her training but the airline kept her on.

However both he ATP and CFI certificates were issued on 1/9/25, indicating that she had a change of address and requested new certificates.

Also, she can be see on Endeavors Facebook page as part of the 2/8/24 new hire class.

Notably, Endeavour Air is yet to reveal the names of the pilots who were flying the small aircraft. Delta, meanwhile, said on Wednesday that the pilots who were flying the plane were experienced.

New footage emerged showing the exact moment Delta flight DL4819 was landing at Toronto Pearson Airport.

A first officer of a plane waiting to taxi caught the moment of incident yesterday at Toronto Pearson Airport, Canada.

The Bombardier CRJ-900 can be seen on final approach then performing a hard landing on runway 23.

It looks the aircraft was a bit sideway, probably due to a strong crosswind, then bounced which could have broke the right main gear.

The right wing then struck the runway and broke, making the plane to catch fire due to the broken fuel tank.

The aircraft then flipped upside down and slid until it came to stop in the snow.

All 80 people on board the Delta flight from Minnesota have been evacuated but three people have been seriously injured during the incident.

On February 5, 2025, a Japan Airlines Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner collided with a Delta Air Lines Boeing 737-800 while taxiing at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that the right wing of JAL Flight 68 struck the tail of Delta Flight 1921 in a non-controlled taxi area.

The Delta Boeing 737-800 was positioned for deicing ahead of its scheduled departure to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, carrying 142 passengers. Meanwhile, the Japan Airlines 787-9 had just completed a long-haul journey from Tokyo Narita (NRT), with 172 passengers and 13 crew members on board.

The FAA stated, “The right wing of Japan Airlines Flight 68 struck the tail of Delta Air Lines Flight 1921 while the planes were taxiing at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport around a.m. local time on Wednesday, Feb. 5. The aircraft were in an area that is not under air traffic control. The FAA temporarily paused some flights to the airport as a result of the incident.”

No Injuries Reported

Despite the contact, no injuries were reported among passengers or crew on either aircraft.

Delta acknowledged the incident in a statement, saying, “While in sequence for deicing, the tail of a Delta 737 aircraft reportedly made contact with a wing tip of another airline’s aircraft. There are no reports of injuries for crew or customers on the flight, and we apologize for the experience and delay in travels.”

Following the incident, operations at SEA were briefly disrupted as authorities assessed the situation. The extent of the damage to both aircraft remains unclear, and the FAA has launched an investigation into the cause of the collision.

SpaceX stopped the launch sequence of its Falcon 9 just 11 seconds to liftoff because a Boeing 767 entered a restricted area.

A Delta Boeing 767-300ER departed Los Angeles Sunday, January 19 2025 at 07:08 PST then was vectored above the Vandenberg Air Force base while a Space X Falcon 9 launch was in progress.

During the live broadcast, a voice could be heard in the control room: “Hold, hold, hold!” And then, “Held for a possible aircraft in the airspace.”

The Delta flight DL480 departed LAX airport to Honolulu, was operated by a 26-year-old aircraft (registration N169DZ).

The B767 (216 passengers on board) encroaching on the restricted airspace meant that SpaceX was forced to delay the launch until Monday at the earliest.

“The Delta crew on flight 480 continues to follow ATC instruction along its journey from Los Angeles (LAX) to Honolulu (HNL). The flight is en route to HNL with no issue.”

Delta spokesperson

The Federal Aviation Administration is expected to open an investigation into how ATC controllers came to instruct the pilots of DL480 to fly through a TFR.

A stowaway tried to fly on Delta Air Lines plane at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Christmas Eve.

The unticketed passenger was discovered while the plane was still taxiing out for takeoff to Honolulu, Delta Air Lines and he Transportation Security Administration confirmed.

The stowaway went through a TSA security checkpoint the evening before the flight DL487 but wasn’t holding a boarding pass, an airport spokesperson said. The next day, the person gained access to the loading bridge without a scanned ticket at the gate.

Once the person was discovered, the Airbus A321neo (registration N538DN) returned to the gate to remove the unticketed passenger, Delta said.

Port of Seattle police officers were dispatched to gate B1 at the airport around 1:05 p.m. for “a report of a suspicious circumstance” on the Delta flight. The person “ran out” of the aircraft before officers arrived, Cooper told CNN Friday.

“The aircraft returned to the terminal and the subject departed the aircraft,” the Port of Seattle said. “With the help of video surveillance, POSPD were able to locate the subject in a terminal restroom. The subject was arrested for criminal trespass.”

Delta apologized to passengers and thanked them for their patience in a statement this week.

“As there are no matters more important than safety and security, Delta people followed procedures to have an unticketed passenger removed from the flight and then apprehended. We apologize to our customers for the delay in their travels and thank them for their patience and cooperation.”

Delta statement

The flight was delayed by two hours and 15 minutes. After the rescreening, it continued to Honolulu at 3 p.m.
