Two people were found dead inside the landing gear of a JetBlue plane that flew from NYC to Florida.

The bodies were discovered inside the landing gear compartment during a routine post-flight maintenance inspection at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

The aircraft had most recently operated flight B61801 from New York’s JFK Airport, which landed in Fort Lauderdale Monday, January 6 2025 just after 11PM according.

The previous flight of the A320 (registration N644JB) was from Salt Lake City, UT to New York JFK Airport.

The deaths remain under investigation.

Hurricane Hunters are confirming rapid intensification is underway and Milton now has maximum sustained winds of 150 mph.

8:05 AM CDT Monday Update
Milton rapidly intensifies into a category 4 hurricane. The maximum sustained winds have now increased to 150 mph (240 km/h) and the minimum pressure has fallen to 940 mb.

Hurricane Milton currently is in the Gulf of Mexico and is moving toward Florida, with a landfall expected between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning.

Potential affected major airports:

  • Miami International Airport
  • Tallahassee International Airport
  • Tampa International Airport
  • St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport has canceled all flights Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10.
  • Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport
  • Orlando International Airport
  • Jacksonville International Airport
  • Southwest Florida International Airport
  • Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport
