A Boeing 747-8 from Mexico City to Frankfurt diverted to Manchester Airport.

The flight #LH499 departed MEX Airport Saturday, May 18 2024 and was supposed to land at Frankfurt about 10 hours later.

But in the early hours of the afternoon, spotters were happy to welcome the “Queen” in a rare sight at Manchester.

While cruising at 39,000 ft, the crew contacted ATC regarding an urgent medical emergency on board.

The Boeing aircraft (registration D-ABYO) was vectored to Manchester where it landed 30 minutes later at 12:00 pm BST.

The 10 year-old aircraft resumed the flight to FRA Airport at 15:00 BST and landed at FRA Airport at 18:08 CEST.

The Boeing 747-400 with registration ER-BOS was operated by Terra Avia on behalf of Garuda Indonesia. Flight GA1105 reportedly had 468 passengers and crew members on board.

However, while the B747 bound for Madinah was rotating, the number 4 engine suffered an engine compression stall.

Eyewitnesses reported that they heard a loud bang. Footage shared on the internet shows the B747 engine sending out streaks of flames.

Following the issue, the B747 entered a holding pattern over the coast before returning to Makassar for a safe landing approximately 90 minutes later. There are no reports of injuries among the 468 people on board.

The flight #LH456 departed Frankfurt at 11:20 CEST this Tuesday, April 23 2024 for a 13-hour flight to Los Angeles.

The flight was operated by a 9 year-old Boeing 747-8 (registration D-ABYP).

The aircraft, on final approach to runway 24R, made a hard landing forcing the pilots to go-around.

The event was caught on YouTube by AIRLINE VIDEOS at 1:05pm PDT. The Boeing 747-8 landed safely on the same runway about 15 minutes later.
