In a separate incident, a Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 was forced to return to Seoul this morning due to landing gear malfunction.

On December 30th, 2024, Jeju Air Flight #7C101 departed Seoul, South Korea bound for Jeju International Airport.

At 6:44 KST today, a Boeing B737-800 departing from Gimpo Airport for Jeju was found to have an abnormality in the landing gear immediately after takeoff

The pilots immediately informed the 161 passengers on board of the aircraft defect due to the landing gear problem. The plane circled and eventually landed back at Gimpo 40 minutes after takeoff.

The aircraft used for the flight that returned today is a Boeing 737-800, the same aircraft that was involved in the accident the day before.

The flight was operated with a 15-year-old Boeing 737-800 registered as HL8090.

The return was a necessary measure for safe operation, we will provide a full refund to passengers who voluntarily got off the plane, and we will pay compensation for the delay to passengers who boarded the plane.

Jeju Air official

Afterwards, 21 passengers gave up boarding, citing reasons such as anxiety, and Jeju Air transferred the remaining passengers to a replacement flight of the same model and departed for Jeju again at 8:30 a.m.
