A pilot inputting incorrect bombing coordinates causes injuries to more than a dozen people.

South Korean fighter jets accidentally bombed homes during a live-fire drill with US forces, injuring more than a dozen people, Seoul’s military said on Thursday.

Eight MK-82 general-purpose bombs were “abnormally dropped” from two KF-16 fighter jets and landed outside the designated firing range at approximately 10:07 a.m. local time, hitting civilian infrastructure in Pocheon city, northeast of the capital Seoul, according to the South Korean Air Force.

South Korea’s defense ministry said initial findings indicated the accident was caused by a pilot inputting incorrect bombing coordinates.

The blasts destroyed two residential buildings, part of a church, and a truck.

The aircraft were participating in a joint live-fire exercise with the South Korean Army and the US military, related to the annual joint US-South Korea “Freedom Shield” military drills, the South Korean Air Force told CNN, without providing further details.

The air force apologized that the “abnormal bomb release has caused civilian damage” and wished the injured a swift recovery.

Sunday, a Russian Su-35 flew very closely several times from a French Reaper drone above the eastern Mediterranean Sea.

On Tuesday, March 4, Sébastien Lecornu published on his X account a video taken last Sunday of a Russian SU-35 fighter plane approaching a French Reaper drone “on a surveillance mission in international airspace over the Eastern Mediterranean.”

In the message posted with the video, the Minister of French Defense describes the three successive passes of the Russian aircraft “in close proximity” as “dangerous behavior” which “could have led to the loss of control of the drone” and “demonstrating a desire to restrict free air traffic in common areas.”

Several fighter jets were scrambled around U.S. President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort Saturday afternoon.

It was reported that F-16 fighter jets escorted three civilian planes out after circling the area several times.

Conservative news outlet Newsmax reported the incident, claiming that the planes had been scrambled by the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD). During two interceptions, the fighter jets were reportedly forced to deploy their flares, but ultimately, the planes were removed.

According to reports by Todd Starnes, a host on Newsmax, the incidents occurred at 11:05 a.m., 12:10 p.m., and 12:50 p.m. Officials are still investigating why all three aircraft were in the vicinity. Authorities have stated that things like this have been happening quite frequently.

A spokesperson for NORAD did not reveal exactly where the planes were over the coastal city, but there were reports of F-16s responding to the violations over Wellington, a more inland community. The final instance came on February 18, when NORAD reported the third civilian aircraft improperly flying over Palm Beach at approximately 10:49 a.m.

Investigators say the Black Hawk helicopter may not have heard the key instructions from ATC.

The crew of the Army Black Hawk helicopter that collided mid-air with an American Airlines plane over Potomac River near Washington, D.C.’s Ronald Reagan National Airport may not have heard the key instructions from air traffic controllers to move behind the plane.

National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy told reporters that the recording from the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter cockpit suggested an incomplete radio transmission may have left the crew without understanding how it should shift position seconds before the January 29 crash, in which all 67 occupants of the two aircraft were killed.

“That transmission was interrupted, it was stepped on,” she said, leaving them unable to hear the words “pass behind the” because the helicopter’s microphone key was pressed at the same moment.

Cockpit conversations a few minutes before the crash indicated conflicting altitude data, with the helicopter’s pilot calling out that they were then at 300 feet (91 meters), but the instructor pilot saying they were at 400 feet (122 meters), Homendy said.

It will take more than a year to get the final NTSB report on the collision, while Homendy made reporters aware of the fact that many issues were still being probed.

A Russian drone struck a cover built to contain radiation at Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

A drone hit the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine early this morning. The Chernobyl New Safe Confinement unit caught fire and was damaged, but the IAEA reports the inner structure was not breached and radiation levels have not risen outside.

During the night of 13-14 Feb, at around 01:50, IAEA team at the Chornobyl site heard an explosion coming from the New Safe Confinement, which protects the remains of reactor 4 of the former Chornobyl NPP, causing a fire. They were informed that a UAV had struck the NSC roof.

Fire safety personnel and vehicles responded within minutes. At this moment, there is no indication of a breach in the NSC’s inner containment. Radiation levels inside and outside remain normal and stable. No casualties reported. IAEA continues monitoring the situation.

For the first time in history an F-16 fighter jet pilot shot and « destroyed six Russian cruise missiles » in a single mission last month.

The Ukrainian Air Force said that two fighter jets shot down the cruise missiles using the aircraft cannon.

The Kyiv Independent reported, the Ukrianian Air Force said on Tuesday that in the morning of 13 December 2024 the pilots intercepted the missiles during a massive Russian aerial strike which saww 94 missiles and nearly 200 drones heading for various targets in Ukraine.

The Air Force Command said, “For the first time in the history of the Fighting Falcon, an F-16 fighter jet destroyed six Russian cruise missiles in one combat mission.”

Yurii Ihnat the Aird Force spokesman said, “They say that even Americans couldn’t believe you did it.”

The unidentified pilot said he approached the missiles and shot down a pair of Russian aerial projectiles using medium range missiles, then show down two more using short range missiles.

The pilot said he did everything as taught by US instructors, “A few bursts from the cannon — and an explosion… then another one! ‘A secondary detonation,’ I thought, but, as it turned out, there were two missiles.”

Two US Navy pilots ejected safely after their fighter jet was shot down over the Red Sea on Saturday in a friendly fire incident.

A US Navy F/A-18 Hornet was mistakenly shot down over the Red Sea by the USS Gettysburg, injuring one crew.

A statement from US Central Command described the incident as a “friendly fire,” saying the two crew members ejected safely, with one sustaining minor injuries.

“The guided missile cruiser USS Gettysburg mistakenly fired on and hit the F/A-18,” the statement read, describing the incident as a “friendly fire” error.

The downing occurred after the United States conducted airstrikes against Iran-backed Houthi militant targets in Yemen’s capital, Sanaa.

Yemen’s Houthi rebels claimed in a statement Sunday that they shot down an F/A-18 aircraft over the Red Sea and targeted the USS Harry Truman aircraft carrier. The Houthis said their strikes were in response to American and British forces attacking their drones and missiles.

According to two US military officials, the downed fighter jet was not part of the strikes in Yemen.

A helicopter burned at Camp Pendleton on Friday after it was forced to make an emergency landing.

Police warned drivers about possible traffic delays along the I-5 Freeway Friday afternoon after a military helicopter “made an emergency landing” at Camp Pendleton, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A Marine official said the aircraft caught fire during a training mission, which prompted the emergency landing. The incident was being categorized as a “mishap” and emergency landing, but not a crash.

The fire began aboard the MCAS Miramar-based CH53-E Super Stallion (heavy-lift cargo helicopter) at about 4 p.m. on Friday.

First responders extinguished the fire. The four crew members onboard the Super Stallion did not sustain injuries.
