The aircraft turned around and descended to 34,000 ft as pilots requested an immediate diversion due to a medical emergency on board.

Air traffic control vectored the flight to St. John’s (YYT), Canada where it landed in middle of the night at 2:36 am.

The Boeing plane landed on runway 10 then taxied to the gate. The flight was canceled.

The airline planned to return the flight to Newark but announces it is canceled as well.

But 3 hours into the flight, the Airbus A330-300 (registration G-VUFO) diverted to St. John’s following a technical failure. The aircraft joined London Heathrow without passengers 2 days later.

The passengers had a 36 hour layover in St. John’s awaiting for a rescue flight.

An Airbus A330-900 (registration G-VJAZ) was re-positioned form New York JFK to St. John’s and landed in the night of Wednesday, January 22 2025 at 00:53 NST.

The rescue flight was operated hours later. It departed at 11:35 NST and landed in London Heathrow 4 hours later.
