An attempted copper wire theft at an energy substation caused a temporary power outage on Monday.

The outage began at about 3:15 p.m. and affected 12 customers at its peak, the company said.

As of 6:15 p.m., one person was still affected by the outage, the company said. Its crews are working to restore power.

Harry Reid International Airport had two power outages on Monday. The first one at Terminal 3 lasted from 3:30 p.m. until it was restored at 5:18 p.m., according to an airport spokesperson.

The company did not disclose the location of the incident, but said that NV Energy facilities are often a target for copper theft.

The airport suffered another outage at 6:45 p.m., when all of the C gates in Terminal 1 lost power. The power was restored by 8 p.m., according to the airport. When power is out at the airport, the electronic doors to planes lock and flights can be delayed.

Southwest flight #WN4035 departed Las Vegas from runway 1R Monday, December 16 2024 at 13:49 PST for a 2-hour flight to Tulsa, OK.

The Boeing 737-800 (registration N8632A) climbed to 35,000 ft but turned around about 30 minutes into the flight.

The pilots declared an emergency (squawk 7700) and reported to ATC an electrical problem in the cockpit affecting navigation instruments.

The aircraft landed on runway 26L 1 hour and 15 minutes after departure and taxied normally to the gate.

The flight resumed with another plane (registration N8668A) about 3 hours after schedule.

A Frontier Airlines Airbus A321neo plane (registration N701FR) operating flight F91326 from San Diego to Las Vegas caught fire while landing at LAS Harry Reid Intl Airport, Nevada on Saturday.

The Frontier flight was descending when the pilots declared an emergency due to heavy smoke in the cockpit and having issues to communicate with Air Traffic Control.

Frontier Flight 1326 departed San Diego at 1:51 p.m. Pacific Time and arrived in Las Vegas at 3:37 p.m.

A Frontier Airlines spokesperson noted that the pilots detected smoke and declared an emergency before the landing.

The airport spokesperson confirmed that “Frontier Flight 1326 experienced a hard landing.” The Clark County Fire Department responded right away, and all passengers and crew members were safely moved to the gate area without any reported injuries.

Visuals show flames and plumes of smoke billowing from the plane’s landing gear area as it landed and stopped on the runway 26L.

All the passengers were evacuated using airstairs without injuries and firefighters responded quickly.

Tuesday, September 3 2024, a 22-year-old Boeing 737-800 experienced a technical issue right after takeoff.

The aircraft (registration N3766) departed runway 26R at 18:10 PDT. It climbed to 7,000 ft when the crew declared an emergency.

As the pilots reported having a flap issue, the flight entered a short hold until it was vectored back to LAS Airport.

The Boeing 737-800 landed back on the same runway only 34 minutes after departure.

The aircraft is now under maintenance.
